Outline of Research at the Start

Outline of Final Research Achievements
1. T-cadherin (T-cad), the partner for adiponectin (APN) controls exosomes (Exo), is suppressed by endoplasmic reticulum stress and promoted by hypoxic response. The autophagy inhibitor Rubicon increases Exo associated with aging. We developed mice for the quantification of tissue and cell type specific Exo. 2. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), effective in type 1 diabetes induced by immune checkpoint inhibition, do not affect anti-cancer activity but rather suppress cancer growth. iPS-derived MSCs also improves cardiac function through their exosome production in an ischemic heart disease model. 3. Soluble T-cad promotes pancreatic β-cell growth and is produced by endothelial cells in insulin-deficient pathology.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
