Outline of Research at the Start

Outline of Final Research Achievements
First, we wanted to identify lifestyle factors related to menstrual symptoms in junior high and high school girls. We analyzed the data using logistic regression. The results suggested that sleep quality may be strongly linked to the severity of menstrual symptoms. Next, we conducted a study to see if eating breakfast regularly could help improve these symptoms. We recruited young women who had menstrual symptoms and usually skipped breakfast. They were randomly divided into two groups. One group was asked to eat breakfast, while the other continued their usual habits. Although the breakfast group ate breakfast about 80% of the time, we found no significant improvement in the severity of their menstrual symptoms compared to before the intervention.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
