| Outline of Research at the Start |
The current COVID-19 pandemic, with its casualties, left some huge psychological sequelae on most people resulting into anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation. Our study will collect information from available suicide prevention services in all possible countries, analyze their availability and characteristics. This will help us know the true impact and challenges of suicide prevention services as well as the burden of suicide in the included countries.
|
| Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness and resilience of suicide helpline services (SHSs) globally amid increased demand and reduced funding post-COVID-19. Among 446 responses from 105 countries, 79.4% of SHSs reported insufficient funding, 55.8% experienced budget cuts post-pandemic, and 62.3% saw increased demand. In a model using 420 responses, pre-service volunteer training (OR=0.16) and quality assurance systems (OR=0.15) significantly reduced low managerial satisfaction (MS-LOSS). Infrequent staff training (OR=2.87) and dilemmas in severe cases (OR=1.68) increased MS-LOSS.

Current Status of Research Progress
3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
This global research project is progressing a bit delayed due to the complicating collaboration and communication among the international team members. We need the robust planning and utilization of diverse resources have helped in addressing potential challenges promptly and efficiently.
|
| Strategy for Future Research Activity |
We will finish our systematic review and check again the availability of current helplines to publish them for public usage, which will increase awareness, enhance access to resources, and reduce stigma. Our focus during this year is also disseminating our results to all global helpline services to improve their performance.
