Outline of Research at the Start

Outline of Final Research Achievements
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of training involving various neuromodulation techniques on motor learning of sports skills. In a motor imagery recall task in which participants performed first-person observation of movements in a virtual reality space, the number of continuations improved in overhand passes in volleyball and in soccer ball juggling. In a non-invasive brainstem activation task in which non-invasive transcutaneous electrical stimulation of the vagus nerve was added to regular practice, no immediate effect was observed on badminton backhand strokes. The results of this study demonstrated that training involving various neuromodulations has various effects on motor learning of sports skills.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
