Outline of Research at the Start |
The purpose of this research is to analyze how cities/regions in Japan influence each other in the adoption of green technologies. Additionally, I will test which of these are the best at propagating such technologies. From these analyses, we can derive policies so that policy-makers can more readily diffuse them in an optimal way.
|
Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The main objective of this project is to analyze whether optimally targeting interventions of environmentally friendly technologies in Japan can contribute to their diffusion. For the first year (stage 1), I performed the following: - Analyzed the data that I had previously collected. This data helped determine the parameters and the code for the modeling later. - I wrote most of the code needed to perform the simulations as planned. This code will serve as the basis for the following stages. - I completed some analyses and gathered some initial results, which were better than expected. I am now checking them in more detail to verify that there are no errors or problems.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
Up to this point, everything has been going according to the outlined plan. The code for the simulations had some initial problems, but I was able to fix it successfully. I have obtained some early results and am in the process of analyzing and interpreting them. In the next stage (stage 2), I will present them at international conferences and seminars to receive comments.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
This year I will move to the second stage of the project. In this stage, I will perform some additional analyses and adjust the code accordingly. I will also present preliminary results at domestic and international seminars and conferences. Next, I will write a first draft from the results and feedback I obtain from these presentations.
In the third and last stage, I will devise some policy recommendations and extensions. These will be added to the original draft, presented again at academic meetings, and finally, I plan to submit the draft to a peer-reviewed journal for publication.
