Outline of Research at the Start

本研究では,金属酸化物クラスターの局所構造制御に基づき,担体上の金属ナノ粒子との複合化による固体塩基触媒機能の開拓を目的とする.具体的には,担持金属ナノ粒子表面に金属酸化物クラスターを修飾し,構成要素それぞれの構成金属種・サイズ・形状を変えることで,金属酸化物クラスターの修飾密度やその局所構造を自在に制御し,金属ナノ粒子の水素活性化能や金属酸化物クラスターの表面酸素原子の局在電荷を能動的に設計する.このような新奇複合材料の設計指針を明らかにし,酸化還元能や塩基触媒能が協奏的に機能する複合活性点の自在制御に向けた知見を収集する.

Outline of Final Research Achievements

In this study, we attempted to control the modification density and local structure of metal oxide clusters on supported metal nanoparticles by changing the metal species, size, and shape of the metal nanoparticle and metal oxide clusters, and to actively design the hydrogen activation ability of the metal nanoparticle surface and the base catalytic activity point of the metal oxide clusters. The composites of supported metal nanoparticles and metal oxide clusters efficiently acted to drive the reductive fixation of CO2 and synthesis of imines by oxidative coupling of amines and alcohols. Thus, we succesfully developed the cooperative active sites of redox and base catalysis.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

担持金属ナノ粒子は工業的に広く用いられており,省金属化の観点から反応に有効な触媒活性サイトの高密度設計が課題である.本研究では,種々の担持金属ナノ粒子の表面に塩基性の金属酸化物クラスタ―を簡便な吸着法により修飾し,金属ナノ粒子表面への高密度な金属-酸化物界面の設計と高効率な触媒反応特性を達成した.得られた知見は,本手法を種々の担持金属触媒へと適用する際の材料設計指針となるものであり,その材料適用性や触媒反応への有用性から本材料群が今後の触媒化学の発展に貢献できると考えている.
