Outline of Research at the Start

近年スピントロニクスの分野で磁化がゼロの反強磁性体が注目を集めている。特にノンコリ
ニア反強磁性体は特異な量子効果や電流応答などにより研究が活性化している。本研究ではこれまでの成果を基礎に当領域に新たな展開をもたらすべく、ナノスケール微細構造で現れる物性と機能性に着目する。ナノスケールで顕著になるスピントルク・スピンゆらぎの効
果を解明し、それを利用した従来にない新機能スピントロニクス素子の原理実証を行う。こ
れは超高速・低消費電力な情報・通信・エネルギーデバイス実現の新基盤となる。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

前年度に確立したナノスケールノンコリニア反強磁性体単一ドット素子の作製手法を活用し、多結晶Mn3Snナノドットの熱安定性のサイズ依存性を調べた。エピタキシャル膜と同様にサイズ減少に伴い、核生成型反転から単磁区反転の転移がみられるとともに、多結晶Mn3Snではエピタキシャル膜に比べて低い熱安定性を有することがわかった。加えてナノスケールMn3Snドット素子における外部磁場および直流電流によるスピン構造の変化も明らかになり、ナノスケール反強磁性体における電流誘起スイッチング特性や新奇現象が解明されつつある。ノンコリニア反強磁性体Mn3Sn薄膜における非保証磁化および磁気異方性の精密な測定手法も確立し、これら種々の磁気特性のMn3Sn薄膜依存性を理解した。本研究で確率した反強磁性体薄膜の物性評価は他の反強磁性体にも適用可能であり、更なる材料開発においても非常に有用である。
これらの実績に加えて、本研究では新たに重金属/ノンコリニア反強磁性体Mn3Snヘテロ構造におけるスピン依存磁気輸送特性の評価にも取り組んだ。その結果、室温において2次の非線形ホール効果を観測し、それがMn3Snと重金属の界面スピン構造の変化に起因することを明らかにした。さらに当該ヘテロ構造におけるスピンホール磁気抵抗を観測し、その抵抗変化がスピン軌道トルクのフィールドライク・トルク成分が寄与していることがわかった。以上の薄膜およびそのヘテロ構造の研究結果は本研究の発展につながるものであり、今後はより詳細な理解が求められる。

Reason

ナノスケール微細反強磁性体素子の作製を様々な材料系に活用し、多結晶Mn3Snナノドットの熱安定性や直流電流によるスピン構造の変化などが解明されつつある。こうした成果に加えて、ノンコリニア反強磁性体薄膜ヘテロ構造の磁気特性、磁気輸送特性、種々の量子効果がみられ、多方面にわたる研究成果が出ており、本研究は順調に進展しているといえる。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

当初の主目標であるナノスケールノンコリニア反強磁性体におけるスピン軌道トルク高速反転の実証に取り組む。現在はより系統的な実験結果を得るための測定に着手しており、また理論計算を利用した詳細の理解に努めている。また、より高機能な反強磁性体スピンデバイスの実現に向けて、Mn3Sn以外の様々なノンコリニア反強磁性薄膜の作製およびその特性評価にも取り組む。
