Outline of Research at the Start

Outline of Final Research Achievements

Our Study Group has developed a system for quantitative evaluation of oral functions (eating, swallowing, and speaking) using a three-dimensional camera that can recognize a human subject only by capturing images and acquire three-dimensional positional information of any point on the face without the use of markers. Some of the research results were published in the Journal of Oral Rehabilitation and Archives of Oral Biology. In addition, we made a poster presentation on the English version of the paper published in the journal entitled “Analysis of head motions during food intake using a new motion capture system” at the 62nd Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Pediatric Dentistry (nominated for the Outstanding Presentation Award).

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
