Outline of Research at the Start

Outline of Final Research Achievements
Hip osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint disease that impairs activities of daily living and quality of life, and delaying its progression is of clinical significance. Although the hip joint moment impulse during daily walking has been identified as a risk factor for disease progression, estimation models for its quantification remain insufficiently developed. The aim of this study was to obtain fundamental insights to improve the estimation accuracy of hip joint moment impulse using sensor-based data. The results demonstrated that acceleration data obtained from the low back yielded the highest accuracy in estimating hip joint moments (sagittal and horizontal planes). In addition, vertical ground reaction force data also allowed for accurate estimation. These findings provide important foundational knowledge for the high-precision estimation of hip joint moment impulse, which may contribute to the early detection and intervention of hip osteoarthritis progression.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
