Outline of Research at the Start

近年の健康志向の高まりにより、食品の三次機能が注目を集めており、“食の重要性”が再認識されている。しかしながら、これら食品成分の生体調節機能が示す詳細な分子機序の解明などは不十分であり、更なる付加価値を付与するための研究が期待されている。そこで、本研究では、食品成分(主に長鎖脂肪酸)の生体エネルギー代謝調節に及ぼす影響を、生体側の受容体と腸内細菌の機能に着目し、分子レベルでのエネルギー代謝調節機構への影響を評価することで、既存の食用油に代わる肥満やII型糖尿病などの代謝性疾患の予防を目的とした機能性油・機能性食品の創出を目指す。

Outline of Final Research Achievements

The aim of this study was to examine the effects of different dietary lipids on the energy homeostasis through changes gut microbial compositions. As a result, we found that intake of specific dietary lipids improved body and tissue weight gain, glucose intolerance, adipose tissue inflammation, and gut microbial compositions in a high-fat diet-induced obesity mouse model to levels comparable to those of healthy mice.

本研究成果は、食事、腸内細菌、および生体エネルギー代謝を結びつける重要な役割を担っている可能性が示唆された。近年の食の欧米化に伴う肥満者の増加に対して、腸内細菌を標的とした新しい治療法の確立を目指した知見を提供することが期待される。
