Outline of Research at the Start

Outline of Final Research Achievements

In this study, we demonstrated a new method for accurately measuring temporal profiles of X-ray laser pulses with a duration of approximately 10 femtoseconds. We also achieved stabilizing temporal profiles, which were initially fluctuating shot-by-shot, using a crystal monochromator. Through analytical considerations, we verified that the measurement method developed in this study is applicable to attosecond X-ray laser pulses. In addition, we developed an optical system to continuously control pulse duration of X-ray laser pulses without significant loss of laser power. We demonstrated that the system can elongate femtosecond X-ray laser pulses up to 50 picoseconds.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
