Outline of Research at the Start

核医学診断で用いられるPETやSPECTは放射性薬剤の体内分布の可視化に留まる。本研究では複数光子を連続放出するカスケード核種に着目し、核外電磁場との相互作用により変化する角度相関を測定することにより生体深部の局所環境情報も同時取得する新イメージング技術の確立を目指す。具体的には高感度位置特定イメージング装置の開発および新しい生体用多光子放出核種の探索・基礎検証を行う。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究では、複数光子を連続放出するカスケード核種を用いて、放射性薬剤の集積とともに生体深部における局所情報を同時取得する新しいイメージング手法の原理検証を行う。本年度も引き続き、角度相関測定とイメージングの両立に向けた反跳電子飛跡計測型コンプトンカメラ用超微細Siピクセル検出器の開発評価を行った。
1) 昨年度まで問題であったピーク位置の不均一性に対処したSOI (Silicon on insulator) 技術を用いた大面積のSiピクセル検出器 (XRPIX-11) の評価回路基板の設計および動作確認を行い、ピーク位置の不均一性が大きく改善されていることを確認した。
2) 18 um角ピクセルASIC (Application specific integrated circuit) と 18 um角ピクセルSiセンサを貼り合わせた超微細Siピクセル検出器に対して、トリガー出力ピクセルを中心とする8x8ピクセルの電荷を読み出すイベントモードを実装し、動作確認を行なった。アルファ線およびX線の検出時における2次元画像の差異を正しく取得できており、イベントモードが正常に動作していることを確認した。一方で、最終的に出力されるアナログ信号のレンジが非常に狭くなっていることが判明しており、今後は、読み出しアンプの入出力電圧範囲を改善したASICの実装・評価を進めていく。

2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.

Reason

1) 昨年度、XRPIX-Xで観測されたX線スペクトルのピーク位置の不均一性について、その原因を推定した。今年度は、この問題に対処するために新たに開発・製造された大型素子(XRPIX-11)用の評価回路基板を設計し、動作確認を行った。その結果、XRPIX-Xで見られたピーク位置の不均一性が大きく改善されていることを確認した。
2) XRPIXのピクセル回路を基に設計した18 um角ピクセルASICと、同サイズのSiセンサを貼り合わせた超微細Si検出器(5 mm x 5 mm)に関して、フレームモードに加えて、トリガー出力ピクセルを中心とする8×8ピクセルの電荷を読み出すイベントモードを実装し、動作確認を行った。その結果、アルファ線およびX線の検出時における2次元画像の差異を正しく取得できており、イベントモードが正常に動作していることを確認した。一方で、列読み出しアンプとチップ出力アンプ回路間の入出力電圧範囲に大きなずれがあり、最終的に出力されるアナログ信号のダイナミックレンジが狭いため、エネルギースペクトルの取得には至っていない。現在は、入出力電圧範囲の整合を図った出力アンプを搭載したASICを開発済みであり、その実装を進めている。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

本年度は、本提案手法に必要なイメージングシステムに向けて、XRPIX-11の評価回路基板の設計・動作確認、ならびに18 umピクセル角のASICを貼り合わせたハイブリッド型Siピクセルセンサのイベントモードの実装とその動作確認を行なった。今後も、XRPIX-11およびハイブリッド型Siピクセルセンサの評価を継続して進めていく。また、本研究において用いる非密封放射性線源の取り扱いに関して、異動後の実験環境では制限があったため、当初計画していた研究の進行が困難な状況であった。現在、本研究を円滑に遂行できるよう、必要な実験環境の整備を進めている段階であり、来年度に進めていく予定である。
