| Outline of Research at the Start |
本研究の目的は、従来の開発経済学の経済モデルでは簡略化のため除外もしくは抽象化されてしまいがちであった歴史的・文化的要因が、人々の社会経済活動にいかように影響を及ぼしているか・及ぼし得るかに焦点を当てることである。そのために、応用計量経済学的手法を開発経済学的文脈に援用するアプローチを採用する。具体的には、歴史的・文化的な特定の事象を取り上げ、それらがいかに今日の経済・社会的な側面に反映されているかを深掘りしていくことに注力する。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The aim of this study was to shed light on how historical and cultural factors, which are often excluded or abstracted in traditional economic models of development economics for the sake of simplification, have influenced and may influence people's socioeconomic activities. To achieve this, the study adopted an approach that applies empirical econometric methods within a development economics context. Specifically, it focused on examining particular historical and cultural events and exploring how these are reflected in present-day economic and social conditions. As a result, six papers were published in international academic journals, and a book compiling the research was also successfully published.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
伝統的な経済学は価格メカニズムや金銭的インセンティブと人間の相互作用に重きが置かれていた。しかしながら、いかなる人も自分が置かれた歴史的・文化的背景からは無縁ではいられないし、同時に個々人が歴史や文化を形成するアクターでもありうる。歴史や文化的要因が人々の行動変容に潜在的に大きな影響を及ぼすことを明示的に取り込むことはこれまで不十分であったと言わざるを得ない。
本研究では歴史的・文化的な特定の事象を取り上げ、それらがいかに今日の経済・社会的な側面に反映されているかを深掘りした。厳密なミクロ実証的な手法を用いた類似的な研究はまだ多くなく、学術的・社会的な意義は大きいと言える。
