Outline of Research at the Start

本研究では測定セル内に封入した分子が赤外レーザーを吸収し、光エネルギーを分子の並進エネルギーに変換させ、系内の圧力変化としてとらえて計測する新規高感度ガス計測システムの開発を目指す。特に、生理活性を示す数種類の分子をターゲットとして超高感度測定装置の開発を目指す。
測定装置を用いて呼気内に存在する分子種の定量分析を実施する。ガスの種類とその濃度を計測し、“分子の網羅的な濃度分布スペクトルパターンから病態診断への応用”を目指しす。本開発装置は赤外光を吸収する全ての分子に適用可能な汎用性を有し、将来的な生体ガス分析による病態診断法への応用を見据えている。

Outline of Final Research Achievements

New gas analytical technique for the infrared laser spectroscopy combined with the differential pressure measurement (IR-DP) is developed. Basic idea of this technique is that the absorption process of molecules by the laser irradiation is monitored as the pressure enhancement in gas cell by use of a differential pressure gauge. The system is composed of a tunable IR laser system, sample cell, differential pressure gauge, and data accumulation system. Using this system, measurements of the IR absorption spectra for cyclohexane (50 ppm) and ammonia (100 ppm) are demonstrated. The observed IR-DP spectra show the similar spectra for the FT-IR measurements. Furthermore, the estimated pressure enhancement based on a simple model is consistent with the experimental results. These results suggest that the newly developed IR-DP technique is one of a powerful tool for the trace gas detection.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究では新しい計測原理に基づき、極微量ガスの分析装置の開発に成功した。今回開発した計測装置は従来のシステムに比べ簡便、且つ超高感度での微量ガス分析を可能にする。この計測手法を応用すれば、ヒトが発する呼気ガス分析を可能にし、各種ガス種の網羅的濃度分布の計測が可能であることが示された。これにより“患者に負担をかけない非侵襲診断法”として用いることが可能であると示唆された。一方で、極微量ガス分析を可能にする本開発装置は、環境汚染物質の濃度測定だけでなく、半導体製造過程や燃焼反応の追跡など“幅広い需要”に応用することができる。
