Outline of Research at the Start

Outline of Final Research Achievements
This project is an experiment aimed at imaging and analyzing the structure of brain tissue by applying micro-CT technology. In the first year, we focused on establishing a system for analyzing micro-CT data and examining sample processing protocols. In the second year, we worked on developing an improved protocol for osmium staining. In the third year, based on the optimized sample processing methods developed thus far, we mounted the samples on the thinnest possible platforms and trimmed them down in size, which led to improved data quality in micro-CT imaging. For samples trimmed to the appropriate size, the imaging conditions adopted in this study enabled the acquisition of structural data with extremely high resolution.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
