Outline of Research at the Start

Outline of Final Research Achievements

This study aimed to establish a new ecosystem observation method using the "integrated trophic position (iTP)" (average trophic position of biological communities). The research moved from the embryonic stage to the growth stage by demonstrating the effectiveness, applicability, and even limitations of iTP as an ecosystem indicator. In the future, we plan to analyze the iTP time-series data from the past 10 years of marine zooplankton to clarify the causal relationships between physicochemical factors such as water temperature and primary production, and biological factors such as biomass, species diversity, and size structure, and to compile the results as contributions to future predictions of the Earth's ecosystem.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
