Outline of Research at the Start

本研究では,「藻場にとって重要な栄養塩供給は陸由来か再生産か?」を明らかにするため,双方の経路によって供給される「リン酸態リン(PO4-P)」に着目し,(1)リン酸の酸素安定同位体比(δ18O(PO4))を用いて潮間帯へ供給されるPO4-Pの起源(陸域由来のリン:New-P,潮間帯で再生産されるリン:Rec-P)を分離・同定するとともに,(2)New-PおよびRec-Pの供給フラックスを推定し,(3)海草・海藻類が取り込むPO4-Pを起源別に明らかにすることを試みる.

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究では,「藻場にとって重要な栄養塩供給は陸由来か再生産か?」を明らかにするため,双方の経路から供給される「リン酸態リン(PO4-P)」に着目し,(1)リン酸の酸素安定同位体比(δ18O(PO4))を用いて潮間帯へ供給されるPO4-Pの起源(陸域由来のリン:New-P,潮間帯で再生産されるリン:Rec-P)を分離・同定するとともに,(2)New-PおよびRec-Pの供給フラックスを推定し,(3)海草・海藻類が取り込むPO4-Pを起源別に明らかにすることを試みる.
2年目である2023年度も,申請者らによる長期の調査実績があり,藻場が広く分布する瀬戸内海の島嶼(広島県尾道市生口島)の潮間帯を対象とし,以下のとおり実施した.
(1)潮間帯に供給されるPO4-Pの起源同定:対象地域の海水,陸域地下水,潮間帯の地下間隙水について,独自に開発したパッシブサンプリング+ジルコニウム担持樹脂を組み合わせた手法を適用した結果,リン酸酸素安定同位体比(δ18O(PO4))の測定に十分な量のリン酸態リン(PO4-P)を回収することに成功した.また,同位体比の分析結果から,潮間帯に分布する海草・海藻類は,海水中のリンよりも淡水性海底湧水によって供給される陸域由来のリン(New-P)および再循環海水によって供給される再生産リン(Rec-P)の影響をより強く受けていることが示唆された.
(2)潮間帯へのNew-PおよびRec-Pの供給フラックス推定:ピエゾメーター法およびマルチトレーサー(塩分,水温,栄養塩濃度)法に基づく現地での観測を1~2か月間隔で継続し,潮間帯への淡水性海底湧水および再循環海水の各フラックスを推定してきた.
(3)潮間帯藻場の起源別PO4-P取り込み量推定:対象とする潮間帯において,1~2か月間隔で海草・海藻類の分布状況および成長度合いのモニタリングを継続してきた.
