| Outline of Research at the Start |
奈良時代は、漢字のみで読み書きが行われていた。漢字の音を用いて、表音的に日本語をあらわす文字は、「万葉仮名」と呼ばれる。本研究では、奈良時代の、仮名（万葉仮名）書きを含む文書を研究対象として、文字資料のメディアとしての性格と文字表記の現れ方の関係性を包括的に検討し、奈良時代の文字資料における「資料性」を明確に記述することを目指す。仮名の表記は、漢文の型からはみ出た文章・文体であることの一つの指標と捉えることが可能である。奈良県唐招提寺に現存する「家屋資財請返解案」の文章をメインの分析対象とし、他にも、仮名の混じる「他田日奉部直神護解」「有年申文」などの一次資料を視野に入れ、研究を行う。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In this study, I analyzed the semantic content of Nara-period texts containing kana and the situations in which the texts were received and read, and examined the relationship between the textual content and the style of writing and notations that appear in the texts.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
本研究から、文字・表記・文章の表記スタイルと、テキストの意味内容・テキストが活用され享受されるシチュエーションとの関連性がうかがわれた。このことは、ことばが文字によって書かれる際に、書かれるシチュエーション、その用途、記述される意味内容に応じて、文字・表記の現れ方が異なってくることを意味するものである。漢字のみで読み書きされた奈良時代以前においても、書かれる場や書かれる内容に応じて、表記スタイルが選択されたのではないかということが示唆される。
