| Outline of Research at the Start |
本研究は、大規模祭礼の分析に「闘争理論」という新しい視角を導入し、新たな知見を生み出すことに挑戦するものである。このために、地域の祭礼運営組織の成員ではない地域外参加者がもっとも先端的に活躍している大規模祭礼、青森ねぶた祭における「ハネトライダー／チャリダー」（ねぶた祭に集う旅人の集団、日本国内で旅に生きる人びと）と、かれらとは別の目的を有する集団との闘争・協調実践を事例として分析する。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The following four results were obtained from this study. (1) This study elucidated the relationship between Haneto-rider/chari-der and the organizers of the Aomori Nebuta Festival, clarifying why even non-local participants contribute to the operations of the festival. (2) The theoretical perspectives of previous studies were sorted from the perspectives of the social integration, self-consummatory, and conflict theories. (3) This study elucidated the organization of small-scale festivals, clarifying how small-scale festivals are maintained. Finally, (4) the management of the festival during the COVID-19 pandemic was analyzed from the perspective of the resilience theory; the results showed their strong commitment to carrying on the festivals’ tradition.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
筆者が、祭礼研究で見られる理論的分析視角とその対立の歴史を整理したことによって、祭礼研究の論点が明確になった。加えて筆者は、対抗論の視角を発展させる形で、祭礼を闘争理論から分析する視角を新たに提案した。これらの知見は、今後の祭礼研究において、一定程度参照されることだろう。この点が、本研究の最大の学術的意義である。また、新型コロナウイルス感染症の感染拡大下における祭礼継承の戦術や、東京圏における小・中規模神輿渡御の維持のメカニズムに関する研究は、祭礼を通した地域的共同性の実現や、より「良い」住民自治の達成の一助になるものといえる。この点が、本研究の社会的意義である。
