| Outline of Research at the Start |
本研究は、茨城県と千葉県という広域の調査に基づいた犬や猫を中心とする動物供養の考究による、安産祈願の犬供養習俗並びに動物供養に関する研究の発展を目的とする。
そのため本研究は犬供養研究の2つの課題（①動物供養と安産祈願の結節点、②仏教民俗における犬供養の位置づけ）を設定し、調査手法として千葉県と茨城県の広域な分布調査と重点調査を複合する。
本研究は、関東地方型の犬供養・猫供養を動物供養研究史および仏教民俗の中に位置付け、産育における動物供養と寺社や宗教者の連関性を考究する民俗学的研究である。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In the literature survey, I captured the characteristics of the customs attached to animal offerings. I was able to obtain materials that complemented my past and current folklore research. In the field survey, I investigated the transition of animal offerings for safe delivery after the dissolution of animal offerings and other prayers for safe delivery. In addition, I focused on the materials associated with safe delivery prayers. As a result, it was ascertained that there were a wide range of objects other than animals, such as Jizoson, Fudoson, and Niou. In addition, I have been working to clarify the position of dog and cat offerings in the history of animal offering research and their relationship to temple and shrine beliefs.
In the final year of the project, in parallel with the research, I presented my findings at a folklore conference and published my research results in a paper. I was able to find the possibility of further development of this research in the future.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
本研究は、千葉県と茨城県の広域における猫を中心とする動物供養を研究対象にした、安産祈願の動物供養習俗並びに動物供養に関する研究の発展を目的とした産育における動物供養と寺社や宗教者の連関性を考究する民俗学的研究である。同じ安産祈願のための動物供養の犬供養と猫供養の分布の傾向や、各地に残る御詠歌の差異からその信仰の伝播の経過の示唆や、地域の講集団と寺社信仰との関連性を指摘した。また、信仰の母体である講集団の解散後の信仰も明らかにし、文研調査と現地での民俗調査、過去の民俗調査記録から今後の安産祈願と動物供養の可能性を見出した基礎的な研究である。
