Outline of Research at the Start |
The current research aims to create a repository of ideal emotional goals depending on one’s context. This objective is more exploratory, sampling a wide variety of positive emotions and situations to examine which positive emotions are more relevant and ‘easier’ experienced. The narrow objective of the current research is to delve into specific positive emotions, as highlighted by the broader exploratory research (such as feeling moved) and figure out the underlying mechanisms that facilitates certain positive emotion experience in negative contexts.

Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
3 surveys were designed and conducted to investigate the context for emotional experience in online environments. Participants were recruited from online crowdsourcing platforms. In one study, participants provided qualitative free-response data on their personal experiences with specific emotions in online gaming. In another study, participants filled in questionnaires on their online tendencies and behaviors, which was linked to their tendencies towards social withdrawal, and in the last study, participants were asked to watch an emotion-evocating video, and complete questionnaires related to their resultant emotional experiences and action tendencies. In addition, 4 journal articles were published in the past year.
