Outline of Research at the Start

分極ハイドロキシアパタイト(Hydroxyapatite electret, HAE)は血管新生効果を有し、安価に大量生産できるメリットを持つ。我々はこのHAEの心筋注射が、心筋梗塞モデルマウスにおいて血管新生を促し心筋梗塞巣を縮小させることを報告してきた。HAEによる血管新生効果は心筋だけでなく下肢骨格筋でも有効と考えられ、本研究計画では下肢虚血モデルマウスにおいてHAE局所注射が、血管新生効果および救肢率改善効果があるかを検討し、HAEの下肢虚血治療への臨床応用の可能性を示すことを目的とする。

Outline of Final Research Achievements

To overcome the challenges in current treatments for limb ischemia, we investigated the effects of locally injecting hydroxyapatite electret (HAE), a charged particle that can be inexpensively mass-produced. HAE administration resulted in a decreased rate of limb auto-amputation, preserved blood flow, and increased running distance. These findings suggest that local injection of HAE may be an effective treatment for limb ischemia.

本研究により確認されたHAEの局所注射による下肢虚血からの保護効果は、安価な治療を提供するという社会的問題の解決にも寄与する可能性があり、その発展性は大きい。また、下肢虚血だけでなく様々な虚血性疾患で応用可能な可能性があり、今後の基礎的研究に寄与する意義のある成果が得られた。
