Outline of Research at the Start |
The main purpose of this year is to write and publish the first results and collect further data, that are needed during the process of evaluation. Data shall be further collected in other areas than the Tokyo area as well to reach a wider overview of the situation. Data evaluation will be supported by statistical analysis to secure excellent data presentation for publication. Additional data from bilingual speakers will be recorded in other areas than Tokyo to expand the scope of research.

Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
Interviews were conducted with bilinguals in Kanto and Kansai area Data preparation, qualitative and quantitative evaluation and interpretation was conducted. Writing research papers to publish in Journals was done over the last months. 3 Journal articles and 2 book review articles are under review currently. 3 conference presentations were accepted and the research fellow invited. Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
1: Research has progressed more than it was originally planned.
Reason
The current status is very good. Research could be conducted more or less in the planned schedule. Participants (bilinguals) were recruited and interviewed. Data were evaluated and three papers were written. Three conference applications were successful and the research fellow is invited to present the first year’s results in 2023. If publications could be already published, it would be of course better, but review processes in good journals are very slow. In addition, two book reviews were written and submitted to journals for review as well.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
Bring out publications currently under review, do needed improvements if reviewer asks for before publication. Three papers on early and late bilinguals in Japan are currently under review in Ampersand Journal and the Journal Social Sciences & Humanities Open and in the International Journal of Bilingualism. Presentation at conferences in May 2023, July 2023 and August 2023. Applications for two more conferences were sent and needs to wait for decision. Conducting Interviews with bilinguals in other areas than Kanto area to gain further insights from bilinguals not living in the bigger city Tokyo. Data evaluation from these interviews, writing additional papers and presentations and include the additionally collected data in ongoing research.
