Outline of Research at the Start

遷移金属ダイカルコゲナイド(TMDC)は,2次元層状構造に加えて化学組成の自由度が大きく,多彩な構造と物性を有する。現在,光励起によって引き起こされるTMDCの構造相転移や量子物性状態などの顕著な非平衡物理現象が基礎・応用の点から注目されている。TMDCにおいて、時空間の位相が揃った格子振動であるコヒーレントフォノンが室温においても数十ピコ秒以上と非常に長い緩和時間を示すため,構造や物性状態に強く影響を及ぼしていると考えられる。本研究では,複数の超短パルス励起光によりコヒーレントフォノンの振幅を制御することで,TMDCの瞬間的な構造変化ダイナミクスやキャリア輸送特性の解明を目的とする。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

昨年度に引き続き2次元層状半導体2H-MoTe2に関する光励起状態に関する知見を更に深めた。これらの知見は,2次元物質の超高速な構造制御や電子状態に関する包括的で応用上意義の高い知見を与えるものである。主に,半導体2H-MoTe2における(i) 高密度電子励起下の構造ダイナミクス,(ii)長寿命コヒーレントフォノンによって駆動された電子状態とその過渡光学応答を調査した。
(i)では,高密度の光励起(波長400 nm, 1 ~ 30 mJ/cm2)での構造ダイナミクスを調査した。過渡反射率変化によるコヒーレントフォノン測定と超高速電子線回折実験の両実験ともに期待される金属相(2H*や1T'相)への過渡的な構造変化は観測されなかった。一方,4 mJ/cm2以上の光励起では,電子励起が飽和する様子(過飽和吸収)が構造の時間応答から観測された。この現象を利用することで,過飽和吸収時の電子の超高速な運動量緩和ダイナミクスを,2つの励起光の遅延時間を可変することで明らかにした。その時定数はおよそ120 fsと見積もられ,およそ使用しているパルス幅程度と見積もられた。これらの研究成果は,責任著者としてJ. Phys. Chem. C誌,および,筆頭著者としてAppl. Phys. Lett.誌に出版された。
(ii)の研究では,長寿命なコヒーレントフォノンによる電子・正孔プラズマ系の非平衡周期駆動現象の波長依存性についての実験結果を説明するために単純なモデルを構築し,観測されたフォノンの高次振動が共鳴励起で特に強められる挙動をよく説明することができた。本研究成果は,責任著者としてAPL Mater.誌に出版された。
(i), (ii)で行った研究以外でも,ダブルパルスを用いたTiSe2におけるCDW消失ダイナミクスに関する研究成果がAppl. Phys. Lett.誌に出版された。
