Outline of Research at the Start

赤ちゃんが最初に覚えることばは,「クック」「ブーブー」など,大人の視点からみると〈モノ〉の名前に対応するものが多い。しかし,ことばの音の側面がモノを意味する語と同じだからといって,子どもにとってのこれらの語の意味が本当に〈モノ〉に対応しているかは未解明である。例えば,18ヶ月児にとっては,「クック」は《靴》ではなく《靴を履く》という意味かもしれない。
本研究では,初期の語の意味がどう形成されるのか,また,語の意味が発達に伴ってどう変化 (分化) していくのかを調べる。特に,語の意味の形成や変化を促すと考えられる「社会的手がかり」に注目し,社会手がかりと語意学習との関係に迫る。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

2023年度は,①「親子遊び調査」データのアノテーションの継続,②「新奇語学習課題」のデータ収集,③国際比較に向けた乳幼児オンライン実験の方法論に関する研究,④今後の研究に向けた研究計画の立案を行った。研究代表者の所属機関に変更が生じたため計画の修正が必要となったが,計画は着実に進展した。
①については,遊びの中での発話が特定の物品やその用途に関連しているかどうかなど,より詳細なアノテーションの付与を進めることができた。しかし,アノテーションの完了には至らず,2割程度が残っているため,次年度もアノテーションを継続し,解析及び論文投稿を進める予定である。また,子どもと物品とのインタラクションに関して進めていた「スケールエラー」に関する論文が,発達心理学の一流誌であるDevelopmental Science誌に掲載された。
②については,昨年度開発した「新奇語学習課題」を用いて,約120名の乳幼児のデータを収集した。現在は予備解析を進めている状況であり,次年度に主解析及び論文投稿を目指す。
③については,乳幼児オンライン実験に関する論文を複数本並行して執筆・投稿した。内2本が採択され (和文:心理学評論誌,英文Behavior Research Methods誌),現在出版を待っている状況である。加えて,機械学習を用いて乳幼児語彙質問紙の多次元データを解析した論文が認知科学誌に掲載された。
④については,Jean Piaget SocietyやLancaster International Conference on Infant and Early Child Development (LCICD) 等の国際学会にて成果発表すると共に,英ウォーリック大学や米ウィスコンシン大学,インディアナ大学,ヒューストン大学などとの共同研究に向けて研究計画の具体化を進めることができた。
