Outline of Research at the Start

3Dバイオプリンティングは,医療分野における臓器移植の課題を解決する手段として期待され,開発が進められている.これに対し,インク液滴を迅速かつ正確に印刷可能なインクジェット技術の応用が期待されるが,インク液滴と柔らかい細胞組織との衝突による動的挙動(衝突後の液滴の最大半径や細胞組織に生じる応力)は未解明である.そこで,本研究では,軟質基板への液滴衝突挙動と基板内応力の解明を目的とする.目的達成の鍵は,従来困難だった3次元的かつ非定常な基板内応力場の測定である.物質内応力と物質を透過する偏光の位相差変調との関係(光弾性)に着目し,応力場測定を実現することで上記の目的を達成する.

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本年度は,前年度に実施した「光弾性法を用いた軟質基板内応力場計測手法の確立」の成果を論文としてまとめ,国際学会誌に投稿,掲載された(Yokoyama et al., Opt. Lasers Eng., 2024).また,「液滴粘度と基板弾性率が及ぼす液滴衝突力の影響解明」に取り組んだ.前年度に開発した応力場計測手法を用いて,液滴衝突時の軟質基板内応力場を非定常に計測することに成功した.これにより,従来の圧電素子等を用いた計測手法では困難だった,変形を伴う基板上での液滴衝突力の計測を可能にした.実験では,変形しない固体球と,粘度の異なるシリコーンオイルをポリウレタンゲルに衝突させた.計測した衝突力の最大値(最大衝突力)に着目し,それが液滴粘度と基板の弾性率によりどのように変化するのかを調査した.スケーリング則を用いた解析の結果,基板に作用する衝突力の最大値は,液滴粘度と基板弾性率の比を表す緩和時間と,衝突速度と液滴半径の比を表す衝突時間のバランスによって決定されることが示唆された.これらの成果は,国内・国外学会(第51回可視化情報シンポジウム,混相流シンポジウム2023,76th Annual Meeting of the APS Division of Fluid Dynamics,IUTAM Symposiumon Dynamics and Interface Phenomena of Bubbles and Droplets at Multiple Scales)で発表し,第51回可視化情報シンポジウムではベストプレゼンテーション賞を受賞した.本研究全体を通して,実験的難しさからこれまでほとんど行われてこなかった液滴衝突時の軟質基板内応力場の研究に対して,新しい実験手法の提案と,衝突力に関する基礎的な知見を得ることができた.
