Outline of Research at the Start

男女雇用機会均等法から35年たち、今後、男性と同等にフルタイムで就労してきた女性が多数高齢期を迎える。本研究では、フルタイム就労をしてきた女性の高齢期の適応に焦点を当て、以下の3点を明らかにする。（1）高齢期の健康状態、幸福感、社会関係、老いに対する態度等の側面に関し、男性や非就労女性と比較した際のフルタイム就労女性の特徴。（2）フルタイム就労女性の中年期の生活パターンと高齢期の適応の関係。（3）エイジズム被害経験が高齢期の心理に与える影響。
研究方法として、高齢者を対象とした大規模縦断調査の二次分析、インタビューによる質的調査、一般住民を対象としたオンライン調査および郵送調査を実施する。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究の目的は、フルタイム就労をしていた女性の高齢期に焦点を当て、高齢化に伴って生じる問題とその規定要因を実証的に明らかにすることであった。
2023年度は、フルタイム就労女性が高齢期に直面する課題として、年齢差別に焦点を当てた研究を行った。60～74歳を対象にしたオンライン調査を分析し、性別と就労経験による年齢差別経験の違いおよびその影響を検討した結果、①フルタイム就労をしていた女性は、男性および専業主婦やパートタイム就労だった女性より年齢差別を受けた経験が多く、男性と比べて若いうちから年齢差別を受けている、②年齢差別を受けた経験がある人ほど老いに対する態度がネガティブで、主観的well-beingが低い、③年齢差別が与える影響として、女性では心理的側面への影響が、男性では身体的健康への影響が大きい、ことを明らかにした。さらに、20～79歳のより幅広い年齢層を対象とした調査によってこの結果を確認した。
本研究課題全体を通して、フルタイム就労をしてきた女性の高齢期について、①パートタイム就労女性や専業主婦女性と比較して、高齢期の主観的年齢が若く、ポジティブ感情を多く経験しているなど、主観的well-beingが良好である、②仕事でPCを使用していた割合が高く、インターネットを発展的に利用している、③退職後も職場の同僚との社会関係を維持している人が多い、といったポジティブな側面が明らかになった。一方で、年齢差別を多く経験しているというネガティブな側面も示された。
女性の就労率が上がる中、フルタイム就労をしてきた女性は、今後次々に高齢期を迎えることが予測される。本研究の成果は、フルタイム就労をしてきた女性が概ねポジティブに高齢期に適応できる可能性を示す一方で、年齢差別と性差別という「二重の危険」に直面する可能性を指摘し、このような差別のない社会環境づくりを提言するものである。
