Outline of Research at the Start

太陽・恒星フレアは、X線や紫外線の照射・太陽風擾乱といった形で地球・惑星環境に影響を及ぼしており、特に大規模なスーパーフレアの理解は、生命誕生の理解や人類文明の保全にとって非常に重要である。本研究では、多波長での観測により、恒星スーパーフレアの性質に切り込む。まず、地上・宇宙望遠鏡の観測により、活動領域の見え方の違いから黒点の複雑さ及び恒星スーパーフレアの発生条件を明らかにする。次に、多波長でのスーパーフレアの観測や数値計算から、恒星スーパーフレアのエネルギー分配則を明らかにし、惑星環境に与える影響を評価する基礎的な情報を得る。また、分光観測により、噴出現象現象の有無・性質を明らかにする。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究は三つの目的を持って行われた。それは、(A)恒星フレアの発生条件、(B)エネルギーの分配則、そして(C)噴出現象の有無及びその性質の解明である。研究実施計画にあるように、今年度も継続して、活動的な恒星(特にDS TucとEK Dra)のモニタ観測が可視光分光観測望遠鏡、X線衛星、地上の電波望遠鏡を用いて行われた。
研究(A)では、過去5年間の長期データを解析し、恒星の彩層から放射されるH-alpha線の強度が時間によって変化することが確認された。この変化は、恒星表面の黒点の複雑さを示唆しており、巨大なスーパーフレアの発生原因を理解する上での重要な手がかりとなる。さらに、将来のngVLAなどの電波観測プロジェクトに向けて、太陽における電波放射と黒点の磁束の相関関係を研究し、スケーリング則を導出する研究を行なった。これにより、電波観測から恒星フレアの発生条件を明らかにする道が開かれるという意義がある。
研究(B)では、若い太陽型星で発生したスーパーフレアを可視光とX線で同時に観測し、これらのフレアにおけるエネルギー分配が太陽フレアやM型星のフレアと共通していることが判明した。この発見は、恒星フレアの研究を進める上で可視光データだけでなく他の波長の情報を利用する手法の開発を促し、系外惑星環境への影響評価を容易にするという点で極めて重要である。
研究(C)では、5年間にわたる観測データをもとに、若い太陽型星の噴出現象が太陽と同様に多様であり、予想以上に頻繁に発生していることが明らかになった。また、他の恒星タイプにおいても同様の噴出現象の特性が観測された。この結果は、若い太陽系や他の恒星系がどのようにして周囲の惑星環境に影響を及ぼすかの理解を深め、その推測に役立つ重要な手がかりとなる。
