Outline of Research at the Start

素粒子であるアップ・ダウンクォークのみで構成される核子とは異なるバリオンの一種に、ストレンジクォークを含むハイペロンが存在する。このハイペロンが結合した原子核を「ハイパー核」と呼ぶ。本研究では、米国・ジェファーソン研究所における電子ビームを用いて、世界で最も高い確度によってハイパー核を測定・解析する。これにより、ハイペロン・核子間に働く、基本的な相互作用の一つの「強いちから」の解明を目指す。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

米国・ジェファーソン研究所 (JLab) における共同研究者との遠隔・現地における議論により、計画する高分解能ハイパー核分光実験の基本設計を完了した。磁気分光器 (HES、HKS) の配置については Gean4 を用いたモンテカルロ・シミュレーションを施行し、物理的な制約の中で信号感度を最大限にするものに決定した。これに基づいて、JLab におけるエンジニアとの議論を詰め、実験エリアにおける実験装置、放射線遮蔽体、ビームライン等の 3 次元図面を作成した (中村、永尾)。
後神は、データ収集系についての要求性能を最新の実験セットアップに基づいて見積もった。荷電粒子通過条件のみの要求で、HES・HKS 同時計測の計数率は、高々 15 kHz 程度であることがわかり、チェレンコフ検出器をデータ取得段階 (トリガー段階) で要求する必要性が低いことがわかった。つまり、本実験研究は、解析段階においての粒子識別で十分対応が可能である。データ取得系の設計についてJLab 共同研究者との議論を進め、JLab で開発された VXS Trigger Processor (VTP) に組み込まれる FPGA にトリガー論理を組み込むための基本設計を開始した。
井坂はハイパー AMD 法の枠組みにおいて、27Mg_Lambda ハイパー核の反応断面積の計算手法の開発を行い、平面波近似のもと手法開発に成功した。2 、3 月には JLab の共同研究者を含む研究会 (ST2-2024、日本)、コラボレーション会議 (JLab) を開催した。そこで一年の総括について情報を交換し、今後の研究方針についてコンセンサスを取った。また、中村、永尾、後神は実験課題審査委員会 (JLab PAC 51) において、新しい実験案をLetter of Intent として提出した。

実験研究、および理論研究ともに JLab における共同研究者との密な議論・作業によっておおむね計画通り進行したため。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

JLab 実験課題審査委員会 (PAC) に既に採択されている 3 課題に加え、7 月に開催される PAC (JLab PAC 52) において新規課題 (3 課題) を提出・プレゼンし、採択を目指す。これらの新規課題は (1) 3 軸非対称原子核探索、(2) ラムダ-核子間の荷電対称性の破れ (CSB) についての新しい知見を世界最高感度で調べるための試みである。また、11 月には実験装置やソフトウェア等の技術面のレビュー (Readiness Review; ERR) を受ける予定である。実験装置の準備や試験、および新規開発と平行して、ERR に必要な文章・プレゼン作成を JLab の現地の共同研究者と協力して行う (後神、中村、永尾)。また、理論計算については、AMD の枠組みの中で歪曲波近似を用いた反応計算の手法を確立する (井坂)。
