Research Abstract

平成23-24年度の成果に基づいて本研究の最終年度はイオン液体潤滑剤の実用化に向けた問題点の整理を検討した．
1. イオン液体が大気中の水分を吸湿する現象は多く報告されている．前年度までの本研究でも実験室の湿度が摩擦試験の再現性や繰り返し性に影響を及ぼす傾向を見いだしている．そこで雰囲気制御が可能な容器内で摩擦試験を行った．疎水性のイオン液体でも空気中の湿度を40%から20%に減じることで摩擦係数が約20%減少した．油温100℃での摩擦試験でも明らかに湿度の影響が見られた．窒素中では摩擦係数の平均は空気中と同程度だが変動が減じた．
2.　赤外分光光度計を接続した摩擦試験機でイオン液体が大気中から吸湿する現象を追跡した．静的条件では吸湿はほとんど起こらないが摩擦試験の開始と同時に顕著な吸湿が見られた．吸湿水はイオン液体と何らかの構造体をとって安定化していることを分光学的に検証した．
3.　イオン液体の実用化に際して最大の障害である金属に対する腐食性は非ハロゲンのアニオンを使用することでかなり改善した．H24年度に提案したカチオンが電子受容体となり電気化学反応によって金属の腐食が進行する機構は長期的な耐摩耗性に影響を及ぼす．腐食防止剤を検討した結果，カチオンの前駆体で電荷を持たない分子が効果的であることを見いだした．これは吸着膜を生成して金属表面を保護することを実験的に確かめた．この吸着膜は低荷重条件で摩擦係数の低下にも寄与した．
4.　アンモニウム塩とホスホニウム塩の安定性を量子化学シミュレーションにより推定した．イオン化による安定性への寄与はホスホニウム塩のほうが大きいことが推算され，実験結果とよい相関が見られた．このシミュレーション手法をイミダゾリウムアニオンに適応して金属腐食の原因となるハロゲンラジカルが生じるメカニズムを推定した．
