Research Abstract |
We succeeded in observing ATP release from astrocytes in brain slices. This release occurred in a region specific manner, suggesting that ATP-releasing astrocytes regulate neural circuit activity. Pharmaceutical analysis indicated that this ATP release from astrocytes induced by the glutamate addition does not depend on the exocytosis but more depends on the release through channels.
