Research Abstract |
An organic growth system equipped with a photoelectron emission microscope has been combined with an existing ultrahigh-vacuum variable-temperature four-probe scanning tunneling microscope in order to investigate a complex organic stacks with their novel properties. Atomic scale size effect has been found in bismuth thin films, which is known as a good substrate for organic thin film growth. Thin film growth of picene, which is known to exhibit superconductivity by doping, has been tested and unusual island formation has been found.
