Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Sami people were acknowledged as indigenous people relatively early in Sweden, and the government has been succeeding in applying advanced policies for them. Two field studies on the Sami Parliament, schools, the Ministry of Education and Research, etc. and one mail survey targeting voters of the Sami Parliament were conducted in Sweden. In conclusion, several facts were clarified, such as that there were Sami’s restoration movements among young generations, and that reindeer farming was a big part of their lives and had a symbolic meaning. These facts are valuable for finding solutions to problems including educational issues for Ainu people.
