Research Abstract

3.11巨大地震の大余震、誘発内陸地震、アウターライズ地震などに伴う深層地下水変動を観測するため、岩手県一関市厳美町やびつ温泉の自噴井ではラドンと炭酸ガスの濃度変化を、宮城県登米市南方上沼崎の650m孔井と同県東松島市矢本町大塩の1010m孔井では水温と水位の変化を、茨城県高萩市上手綱の623m自噴井ではラドンと炭酸ガスの濃度および水温変化を、筑波大学構内の孔井では水位のみを継続観測した。余震等の地震の頻度は次第に低下してきており、この間に顕著な地下水変動を伴うような大きな地震は発生しなかった。
いわき地震（2011年4月11日、M.7）の余震に関しては、臨時水位観測を実施して興味深い結果を得たことを昨年度に報告した。余震の頻度は低下し続けていたが、2013年9月20日に久しぶりに前兆変動が期待されるような大き目の余震（M5.9）が発生した。すでに臨時観測は終了していたため、この余震に伴う水位変動を取り逃がした。そこで、遅ればせながら2013年10月1日から臨時観測を再開し、2014年2月21日に終了した。しかし、この間に顕著な水位変動を伴う余震は発生しなかった。
3.11巨大地震に伴う地下水変動観測結果を解析し、論文として公表する計画であったが、まだ行っていないので近い将来に実行する。
不均質すべり面上での震源核形成に関わる実験をガス圧変形試験機で行う計画であった。すべり面を跨いで貼ったひずみゲージですべりを精度良く測定できるように試料を四角柱に近い形に変え、それに伴ってアンビルの形状も改良した。計測器を8チャンネルから10チャンネルに増強し、サンプリングレイトも5MHzにグレードアップした。
