| Research Abstract |
Predator odors are known to induce innate fear and stress-like behavior in rodents. We demonstrated that an artificial odor, which had no effect on the predator odor-induced stress-like behavior innately, could alleviate these stress through the experience on the odor during lactational period. In addition, the underling mechanisms to alleviate predator odor-induced stress had shown to counteract some selective brain regions where were known to involve essential neural circuits to elicit stress. It would be important not only for the elucidation of individual differences of odor sensitivities but also for the basis of olfactory information processing.
