In developing lateral olfactory tract (LOT) in mouse embryos, axonal branch was increased in LOTUS-deficient mice, whereas the axonal branch was decreased in NgR1-deficient mice. Furthermore, the axonal branch was also decreased in their double knocking-out mice, suggesting that Nogo-NgR1 interaction may induce axonal branching of LOT.On the other hand, doublecortin-positive migrating pyramidal neurons were found in inside area of dentate gylus of hippocampus in LOTUS-deficient mice when compared with the wild type mice, suggesting that LOTUS may be involved in neuronal migration in developing hippocampus
