Research Abstract |
I studied the close relationship between a Florentine sculpture Corrado Vigni (1888-1956) and a pioneering hotel owner Francesco Baglioni from the standpoint of the progressive thoughts shared by them, revealed by my interviews to the three still-living pupils of the sculpture. I analyzed the Ceres, a tondo bas-relief commissioned from Francesco Baglioni, as an allegory of civilization, and I published for the first time a terracotta study of Ceres, a plaster study of the Crucifixion for a cemetery of North America, and also some plaster studies of female allegorical figures now settled on the Post Office of Ragusa in Sicily, iconography of which I made known through my archive research in the Fondo Mazzoni, architect of this building.
