Research Abstract |
Joseph Nye stressed the importance of "Soft Power", non-military measures in his Soft Power published in 2002. However, he never taken examples of the Soft Power Strategies that the U.S. had been used against Japan. This study is concerned with the Soft Power Strategies that the U.S. used against Japan during the Cold War Era (including the Occupation Era). The findings of the study are as follows; the reformation of Japanese Media systems and institutions by the U.S. Occupation Army set up favorable conditions for the U.S. Soft Power Strategies; the Eisenhower administration made most of the conditions in promoting "Atoms for Peace" campaign that lead to the introduction of "The Peaceful Use of Atomic Energy" into Japan.
