Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study has investigated how development aid affects economic growth and welfare in recipient countries and what determines aid effectiveness. While many earlier studies have estimated the impact of aid on growth rates, this study has focused on the impact of aid on income distribution. The results have shown that aid for education and health sectors can reduce inequality. The study also has developed an index of governance, which is based on data on development efforts and outcomes, to provide an objective measure of state capacity.
