Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study considers the following two issues:(1)When individuals face environmental problems in the real world, what percentage of people defines these problems as a social dilemma? (2)What characterizes the individuals who contribute to these problems? This study considers these matters through the data analysis of quantitative survey. The findings revealed that individuals define environmental problems as a social dilemma at the hypothetical level. When they face these problems in the real world, however, they do not tend to define them as a social dilemma. They prefer mutual cooperation rather than mutual defection. In addition, individuals who prefer mutual cooperation tend to trust the information about environmental problems disseminated by other people and other organizations.
