In Japanese context, “Sociology of Labor Market” has accumulated its research according to three approaches, i.e. social mobility approach, social relations approach, and institutional approach. All of them emphasize that the labor market is an entity structured in society. Advertisement, public employment agencies, and personal connections are the three most utilized channels for job entry in Japan. However, this order varies according to attributes of each person entering into a job, including gender, age, occupation, careers, size of the firm, industry, and transfer between industries.
