Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The results of this empirical study suggests that social filtering via social media could narrow people's social perspective and reduce common knowledge, by communication through strong ties. At the same time, it could have opposite effects by communication through the weak ties. If people use Facebook or Twitter, whose friend network have strong ties and weak ties, both effects would annihilate each other. However when people use LINE, whose friend network mainly have strong ties, it would cause only negative effects to social perspective and common knowledge.
