Research Abstract |
Environment-responsible, highly emissive switching molecules has been designed and synthesized, and their emission properties were characterized. When silyl and silylethynyl groups were attached on naphthalene and pyrene rings, fluorescence intensity dramatically increased. (1,3)pyrenophanes and (1,8)pyrenophanes are found to act as switching molecules whose fluorescence properties changed depending on solvent polarity and temperature. Benzocrown ether-ethynylpyrene linked molecules selectively recognized metal ions to change fluorescence properties.
