Research Abstract |
Experiments and analysis have been conducted to clarify the theoretical background of the operational conditions of running-in of new machines. Objective combinational analysis of multiple data obtained in the experiment clarified many new phenomena for the fundamental mechanisms of adhesive wear. Important new findings about running-in phenomena under boundary-lubrication were also obtained. The sizes and generation frequency of adhesive substances on the sliding surface in very early stage of sliding gave decisive influences on the subsequent long-term condition of the lubrication.
