Research Abstract |
By blending the MCF (magnetic compound fluid) developed by the present author in a soft rubber and hardening it under the application of a magnetic field, I developed the MCF rubber that has high sensitivity with less than 0.1 N, and is soft and stretching like a human skin. As giving a fingerprint, I investigated the sensitivity at the application of shear and normal forces on the MCF rubber, and developed the sensor being sensible to smooth or rough feeling as touching a body. We clarified experimentally and theoretically the electric characteristics of the sensor, and illustrated the application examples experimentally.
