Research Abstract |
It is an essential step for cells that newly synthesized proteins are correctly targeted to the organelles where they function. We performed genetical and biochemical experiments to reveal the mechanisms for selective membrane transport between ER-Golgi using Saccharomyces cerevisiae, an excellent model eukaryotic cell. We identified a new cargo for the Erv41-Erv46 complex and found an ER-Golgi recycling membrane protein whose precise function was previously unknown as a new candidate of a cargo receptor protein.
