Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The pathogen-red-queen hypothesis was rejected in this field study because infection rate of CYNMV and JYMV did not negatively correlate with genetic diversity of Dioscorea japonica. Virus such as CYNMV and JYMV were inactivated in 30 minitues after Aphids sucked virus-infected leaves. It suggest that infection rate depnds on the density of Dioscorea japonica individuals. When Diocorea japonica were infected by JYMV, they did not show negative effect on resource allocation in underground organs compared to that of non-infected D. japonica.
