Research Abstract |
We performed quantitative detection of circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) that harbors gene mutations identical to the primary tumor, by analyzing cell-free DNA in the plasma of gastric cancer patients using BEAMing or next generation sequencer. 3 out of 6 advanced gastric cancer patients showed positive ctDNA for TP53 before surgery. ctDNA level corresponded to surgical resection, tumor recurrence, and response to chemotherapy. We demonstrated that ctDNA might be useful biomarker for monitoring tumor progression in gastric cancer patients.
