Outline of Final Research Achievements

We investigated the effects of estrogen and progesterone on cerebral pial microvessels in the nornal state and ischemia-reperfusion period under sevoflurane or propofol anesthesia.
By using bispectral index, optimal doses of sevoflurane and propofol were determined as 3.9% and 100 mg/kg/hr, respectively.
In the normal stete, estrogen and progesterone at 10-11~10-5 mol/L did not influence cerebral pial vascular diameter under either sevoflurane or propofol anesthesia. In the ischemia-reperfusion period, estrogen and progesterone at 10-6 mol/L did not influence cerebral pial vascular diameter under either sevoflurane or propofol anesthesia.
