Research Abstract

In this study we found that PTEN can be expressed in the differentiating marginal cells (MCs), root cells (RCs) and spiral ligament fibrocytes (SLFs). In the mature cochlea, PTEN lost its expression in MC and SLFs but it remains high expression in RCs. The expression pattern for PTEN suggests that it plays a critical role in the differentiation of the lateral wall.
